ABOUT THE BOOKS

All books have internal pages printed on 115gsm art-paper (good quality). They are all paperbacks with 280gsm or 290gsm card for the covers.

The majority of the books are perfect-bound, and from Devon churches onwards (Dec 1999) the thicker ones have been strengthened with sewn sections. All the books priced at £3 or less have a saddle-stitch binding, and Warks. Churches, North Wales Churches & Staffs. Castles also have this type of binding.

Thames & Chilterns includes: Beds, Berks, Bucks, Herts, Oxon, Middlesex & London north of the Thames.
East Anglia includes: Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk.
East Midlands includes: Derbyshire, Leicester, Lincs, Northants, Notts, and Rutland.
Wessex includes: Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Somerset, Wiltshire.
North Wales includes: Anglesey, Caernarfon, Denbigh, Flint, Meirionnydd.
Mid Wales includes: Montgomery, Radnor and Brecon.
South-West Wales includes: Pembroke, Ceredigion, Carmarthen.
South-West Scotland includes: Ayr, Dumfries, Kirkcudbright, Lanark, Renfrew, Wigtown.
Heartland of Scotland includes: Clackmannan, Dumbarton, Fife, Kinross, Perth, Stirling.

The churches books include all architectural features, furnishings, monuments up to the late 18th century and the castles books cover all buildings with defensive features up to the time of the Civil Wars of the mid 17th century.
Exceptions to this are:

  1. Parish Churches of the Forest of Dean includes 19th and 20th century buildings.

  2. The Isle of Man and Channel Islands volumes contain both castles and churches in addition to monastic sites, artillery batteries, etc.
