WAYS IN WHICH YOU CAN HELP
1. Send Mike pictures. Photos that are difficult to obtain are always welcome, e.g. internal pictures of church furnishings and monuments, or views of buildings now difficult to obtain access to, or which have changed due to restoration, ruination or the encroachment of vegetation or furnishings. Any photos used will be properly acknowledged and will earn the contributor a free copy of any book they appear in.
2. Help with transport. Mike usually visits buildings by folding bike in conjunction with buses or trains, but occasionally a lift in a car is useful and speeds things up. Would any drivers with an interest in old buildings like a day out to see up to ten churches? Mike would be happy to help out with petrol costs. Occasional walking and cycling companions are welcome, as long as they can keep up with Mike's pace.
3. Help promote the books. Many bookstores (especially in the Thames Valley and Wessex) still haven't ever seen the books and it's no longer economical to try and visit all these shops with samples, but if you can get any of them interested that would be wonderful. One woman so believed in the books that she persuaded a bookshop and a tourist office in Natwich to place orders. As a result both outlets sold a fair number of books in 2004, each re-ordering at least once. This trebled annual sales of the otherwise slow selling Old Parish Churches of Cheshire now on sale in very few places, and without an outlet in Chester.
4. Inform Mike of anything you find in books which is incorrect, out-of-date, or misleading. Corrections may be made available to the customers in the form of leaflets or a page on this website. A leaflet already exists for Irish Castles and the Index volume also contains extra material on English castles.
