ALL ABOUT THE MORRIS £9.95

88 pages, 100 illustrations (old photos, prints, colour pictures)

This book describes the many varied forms of traditional and seasonal dance known collectively as The Morris which have been collected and revived over the last hundred years or so. Starting with the first references to morris in England in the mid 15th century, and then describing the revivals of the early 20th century, the book brings the story up to date. It particularly notes the recent trend away from the Cotswold and North-West styles of morris dancing performed by single-sex teams in the last third of the 20th century to mixed teams performing other forms of morris dancing now becoming prevalent in the early 21st century.
