NORMAN PARISH CHURCHES £20

Norman Parish Churches

200 pages, illustrated with 530 colour photographs and 185 plans

This book is a companion volume to the author’s previous book Saxon Churches, which took the story of England’s parish churches up to the late 11th century. This book continues from then until the end of the 12th century, by which time the pointed arch was starting to be favoured over the Norman round-arched Romanesque style. The main focus of the book is on relatively unaltered churches, mainly in rural locations, and buildings which once had monastic cloisters adjoining them are not included. Eighty churches are described and illustrated in detail, and many others are mentioned and illustrated in the introductory sections of the book.
